Death and funerals

If someone dies, the family or another close relative should contact the vicar responsible for the parish register in the deceased person’s parish. This vicar oversees the funeral arrangements.

Read the official funeral guidance from the Church of the Faroe Islands.

The death must be reported to this vicar, and the death certificate must also be submitted to them. This applies whether or not the deceased person was a member of the Church of the Faroe Islands.
