Going to a doctor

Your general practitioner (GP) is normally your first point of contact when you are ill.

You should make an appointment before visiting your GP.

Your GP can provide examinations, prescriptions, vaccinations and other primary healthcare.

If you need specialist or hospital treatment, your GP will normally refer you.

If you become ill outside your GP's normal opening hours, you can call the out-of-hours medical service at 1870.

If you do not speak Faroese, professional interpretation can be arranged when the doctor considers it necessary.

Opening Hours

The health center is generally open during standard weekday office hours:

Monday–Friday: approximately 08:00–16:00

Weekends and public holidays: closed
