Elderly care and home care
Elderly and home-care services are provided largely through the municipalities and the social-services system.
People who have difficulty managing personal care or everyday tasks at home can apply for home care (heimarøkt). Home care can be temporary, for example after illness, or long-term for people who permanently need assistance.
A professional assessment is normally made before long-term assistance is provided.
For residents of Klaksvík, Kunoy, Hvannasund, Viðareiði and Fugloy municipalities, home-care and elderly-care services are administered by Norðoya Bú- og Heimatænasta (NBH). http://Nbh.fo
For residents of Fuglafjarðar Municipality and Eysturkommuna, home-care and elderly-care services are provided through Nánd, a joint municipal service. https://www.nand.fo
